Critics Choice Awards
The Critics Choice Awards are awards given annually by the American-Canadian Association of Film Critics (BFCA) to honor the best achievements in film, since 1995.
Nominees are generally announced in December. Winners chosen by critics' vote are revealed at the annual ceremony in January.
The association is made up of 250 critics. It is the largest organization of film critics in the United States and Canada.
Members of the Association must be active film critics or television journalists, whose reviews are regularly broadcast to a wide audience, whether on television, radio or the Internet.

History
The first Critics Choice Awards ceremony was held in 1995. The awards were originally called the Critics Choice Awards. In 2010, the word "Movie" was added to their name to differentiate them from the Critics' Choice Television Awards, which were first awarded the following year by the newly created Broadcast Television Critics Association. The name Critics Choice Awards now officially refers to both sets of awards together.
